Most of our funding continues to come from generous private foundations, corporations, and families, and support from Georgetown University Hospital/MedStar Health and Georgetown University. While many of our newer patients are uninsured, we receive a small portion of our funding from Medicaid and if families are eligible, we actively assist them in this complex registration process.
In 2004, as a result of our continued success at reaching children at risk, the Ronald McDonald House Charities, as part of their Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program, generously granted a new mobile medical unit to the program. The purchase of a new mobile unit helps to ensure that our ‘doctors office on wheels’ is ‘healthy’ and capable of providing services into the future.
We are extremely excited to have a new unit, but without the support of philanthropic foundations, corporations, and individuals, we cannot continue to operate the mobile program and reach children and adolescents who need services. This year, like the previous eleven, we will continue to work to improve the health of the most vulnerable children in the District of Columbia, allowing them the freedom to learn, grow and mature into healthy adults. This year, we also hope to reach more children with more services, so that the serious healthcare problems they face on a daily basis can be addressed and more of their social service and mental health needs can be met. We hope you will consider joining us in our mission to reduce the health disparities faced by the medically vulnerable children of Washington, D.C.
Who Are We
The KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic is under the direction of the Community Pediatrics Program which is part of the Department of Pediatrics at Georgetown University Hospital, a MedStar Health Partner. We are a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 program. The KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic staff is a dynamic team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing quality services to children, adolescents and families. This team is truly greater than the sum of its parts, and includes doctors, nurses, social service providers and an administrative support team.
Who Is Eligible:
All children ages 0 – 21 years are eligible for our program whether or not they have medical insurance. Additionally, we also treat patients with Medicaid coverage but who do not have a regular doctor or pediatric clinic. There is no out-of-pocket expense to patients or their families.
