NICU Parent Advisory Board

Our Mission

Founded in 2009, the Georgetown University Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Parent Advisory Board provides guidance, support, and education to families and Georgetown University Hospital NICU staff to advance family centered care.

Our Story

Babies represent the miracle of life. Some babies are born prematurely or incredibly ill and are in need of lifesaving and restorative care. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides that specialized medical care. Members of the NICU PAB have had one or more children in the Georgetown NICU and want to ensure that families who face similar challenges will positively benefit from our collective experiences.

Our Goals

To promote a better understanding of the principles of family-centered health care as well as the services and policies of Georgetown University Hospital NICU patients, families, and staff.

  • To provide NICU family support through interactive programs such as parent-to-parent connections, bereavement, etc.
  • To strive to continually improve the facilities available to Georgetown NICU patients and families.
  • To increase awareness of the advances in treatment and care that is being provided by the talented doctors and nurses of the Georgetown NICU.
